What Most Hockey Families Struggle With
NGH Florida | Coaching Staff Biographies
Our goal is simple: provide serious, technical training that strengthens skating and supports the player’s overall development.
Unclear development structure
It’s difficult to know what type of training truly supports long-term growth.
Boris Dorozhenko Founder & Lead Instructor
Boris Dorozhenko is a visionary in the world of hockey development and the architect of the revolutionary Next Generation Hockey (NGH) system. Dedicating his career to the biomechanics of skating, Boris developed a proprietary training methodology that challenges players to master their edges and balance in ways traditional coaching does not. His innovative approach focuses on "training in instability" to build superior core strength, agility, and cognitive processing speed on the ice. Boris is globally recognized as the mentor behind NHL superstar and MVP Auston Matthews, having shaped his skating mechanics from the age of seven using this exact system. Today, Boris continues to evolve the sport, bringing his science-based approach to Florida to build the next generation of elite athletes
Pavel Goryachev
Head Instructor & Program Director
Pavel Goryachev brings over 25 years of international elite hockey experience to NGH Florida. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Pavel played at the highest levels of the Russian professional leagues before transitioning into a master developer of talent. Since 1997, he has been a pivotal figure in North American hockey development, specializing in the NGH system under the direct mentorship of Boris Dorozhenko. Pavel is known for his surgical precision in teaching skating technique and his ability to translate professional-level discipline into youth development. As both a coach and a father of elitelevel players, he understands the dedication required to reach the top and is committed to fostering that same excellence in every student at NGH Florida.
James Goon Senior
Instructor & Skills Specialist
James Goon is a veteran instructor with deep-rooted expertise in the Boris Dorozhenko methodology. Having spent years developing talent in the highly competitive Phoenix hockey market, James has mastered the intricacies of the NGH system, making him an invaluable asset to the Florida coaching team. Specializing in skating progression and technical skill integration, James works closely with players to ensure the NGH fundamentals are executed with perfection. His extensive background working alongside world-class instructors and professional organizations has given him a unique ability to correct mechanics in real-time, helping athletes bridge the gap between effort and elite performance.
Inconsistent technical coaching
Skating fundamentals aren’t always taught in a structured or progressive way.
Busy schedules & limited ice time
Families need training that fits real life and complements team practices.
